Happy Sunday friends! My husband was in Wisconsin for a work trip this past week and I breathed the deepest sigh of relief once he was home Thursday evening. Single parents - you are absolute champions and I am in awe of you.
I had PT on Thursday morning and it ended up feeling more like a counseling session (sorry Megan!!). Every year around this time I hit a major slump and it was especially noticeable while living in Washington, largely due to the extended gray weather. Even moving back to the south I’m feeling it hit. Add in the postpartum feelings and I’m just feeling a bit off kilter. I’m trying to find pockets of time to do things that make me feel like myself and enjoy the sunshine when we have it.
DECLUTTER LIKE A MOTHER - I finished and it was…fine? I think overall it gave big girl boss energy which tracks with when it came out (2021) and while I largely missed being sucked into that era of social media, it still managed to make me feel unsettled enough to do a little googling. This then led to the reddit rabbit hole of who this influencer used to be and the ways she’s changed and isn’t it so weird how social media leaves such a bizarre footprint? I did appreciate that her point wasn’t minimalism for the sake of minimalism but I can’t say I really came away with much else. I looked up her course and it is truly wild to me that people would pay $300 (!!!) for an online decluttering course from somebody who is a regular person (albeit an influencer) who doesn’t hold any certifications or have any training on the subject they are shilling. And then…you still have to declutter your own house. Sometimes I have to check my gut reactions and question what’s really at play. Am I just jealous? And in this case the answer is a solid no, I just think it’s silly.
Speaking of girl boss energy, let’s chat about beautycounter soon.
THE BLONDE IDENTITY - I had such high hopes but this was a DNF for me!

UNDER THE BRIDGE - My husband and I started this on a whim this weekend after being intrigued by seeing Lily Gladstone as a leading character.
Hulu‘s new true-crime series “Under the Bridge,” based on the late Rebecca Godfrey’s non-fiction book, portrays the before and after of 14-year-old Reena Virk’s brutal murder. The first two episodes, released on April 17, show the timeline of events leading up to Virk’s death and the investigation that took place.
The show, created by Quinn Shephard, tells the story of the events that unfolded through the lens of Godfrey (Riley Keough), a journalist who grew up in Victoria and was working on a novel about teenage girls in her hometown when she found out about the murder, and Cam Bentland (Lily Gladstone), a local police officer who investigated and solved the case.
I’m a pretty sensitive viewer and based on the trailer I wasn’t sure if it would be too much but we took a chance and immediately watched the second episode after finishing the first (only two are currently out). It is definitely gritty and you’ve got to be in the right headspace for it but we are HOOKED.
An hour and a half alone to get my eyebrows done (hallelujah) and browse plato’s closet. I still feel too old to be there but am also really glad to find jean shorts I don’t hate for $8!
New bath sheets. I should have done this ages ago and it feels like the ultimate luxury after using towels that just don’t really fit around my body!
Jeni’s Gooey Butter Cake is the best ice cream there is. A pint to reinforce the battlements of solo parenting.
I’ve been making these falafel for years but hadn’t lately and it was like being reunited with an old friend. I have such a strong memory of making these for the first time at our condo in Issaquah. I destroyed our tiny kitchen in the process but enjoyed the meal so much I couldn’t really care. I ignore the directions and process everything together! Great in a bowl or a pita sandwich.
This orzo dish was phenomenal. I added mushrooms, riced cauliflower, and more spinach than called for. My only issue is that it really didn’t make a ton and next time I’ll double the orzo/liquid in order to stretch the meal a bit further. Very savory and endlessly customizable!
Now to meal plan for next week - any favorites you’ve made lately?!
Happy Sunday, friends. Thanks for being here!

I was disappointed in The Blonde Identity too. The premise sounded fun and I am also an identical twin. I finished the book but thought it was fairly lame.
